Trump elected Caroline Pham as the incumbent chairman of the agency and was elected by the five members of the Commodity and Futures Trading Commission.
"I look forward to working with everyone involved in this new function, while we focus on the mission of the CFTC, to promote well-functioning markets that support the economic growth and competitiveness of the United States," said the incumbent CFTC chairman in a statement statement .
Pham, who worked with the former government of Joe Biden, was the head behind several projects at CFTC. At the CFTC, she campaigned for the regulatory framework for digital assets. It promoted the establishment of a subcommittee for digital asset markets that should work out proposals for governance and risk management.
It also promoted the "Regulatory Sandbox" for digital assets in the United States in 2023 and thus laid the foundation for the development of new technologies and a pilot program for digital assets.
Donald Trump has not yet publicly declared himself a constant owner of the office of the chairman of the CFTC. The current owner of the position, Rostin Behnam, had announced at the beginning of the month that he was planning to leave the office until February 7th.
According to speculation, the former CFTC commissioner Brian Quintenz could be appointed chairman of the agency.
