Mainly heavy estate in the auction house Nagel: SWR Kultur Doku reveals the secrets - from July 26th in the ARD Mediathek
A multi -million dollar estate was recently delivered to the Nagel auction house in Stuttgart in 14 saddle tractors. The auction house is extremely discreet with regard to the owners of the estate and does not provide any information. A new SWR culture with the title "Until the hammer falls - behind the scenes in the auction house Nagel" tells the stories that hide behind the objects. The documentation will be available in the ARD Mediathek from July 26, 2024 and will be broadcast on the SWR on July 28th at 5:30 p.m.
The estate contains precious antiques, historical paintings, Asian porcelain, Danish silver and other valuable objects. The highlights include a fish-preserved plate with an estimated value of 30,000 to 50,000 euros, rare watches such as a "Mystérieuse Modèle A" by Cartier and a snuff box with the portrait of Marie Antoinette. The estate also includes around 600 handbags from Hermès and Fendi, some of them difficult to get and others have never worn.
The document shows the process from delivery to auction. Each object is checked for authenticity, origin and value. It is photographed, documented, cataloged and valued. The auction house has decades of experience, modern technology and international connections to also assign objects without a signature. There are interesting stories and often surprises behind every object.
The SWR Kultur Documentary "Until the hammer falls - behind the scenes in the auction house Nagel" offers a fascinating insight into the world of auctions. It can be viewed in the ARD media library from July 26, 2024 and will be broadcast on the SWR on July 28th at 5:30 p.m.
