EU urgently needs to set new priorities - AfD demands U -turn in economic policy
The Upper Rhine region has great potential, but its future perspective is anything but rosy. This emphasized Emil Sänze, the European Political AfD parliamentary group spokesman, in a state parliament debate in Stuttgart. Snands called for a new priorities of the European Union (EU) in view of the re-industrialization in the USA and industrial innovative strength in China. The latest election results and the Swiss country ranking, in which Germany is only in 24th place (less than ten years ago it was sixth), underline the need for a turnaround in economic policy orientation.
According to Sämze, the tax money of EU citizens is wasted for a questionable industrial policy of the Brussels competence gurus. In particular, the EU's ambitious climate policy of the EU's Green Deal forces companies to reduce their production. This creates a competitive disadvantage for energy -intensive companies in Germany compared to the USA, Canada and France. The high level of electricity and gas price could no longer be compensated for by the high energy efficiency of German industry. The cognitive dissonance of the Brussels technocrats criticizes.
The position of the Upper Rhine region, which extends from the Hochrhein to the Lower Rhine, is of particular interest in this context. The region, which includes cities such as Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Freiburg and Strasbourg, is an important economic engine in Germany and Europe. The region's economic output is due to its strong industry, which is characterized by innovative strength and export orientation. However, the current strategic orientation of the EU raises doubts as to whether the region can fully use its potential.
In the following table, some facts about the Upper Rhine region are listed:
regional cities | Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Freiburg, Strasbourg |
economy | Strong industry that is characterized by innovative strength and export orientation |
Future perspective | fragil because of the current industrial policy of the EU |
historical meaning | The Upper Rhine region plays an important role in European history. It was the scene of many important events, such as the Thirty Years' War and the Franco-German wars. |
