Standardization advantageous for all packaging lines

Syntegon Technology has used the automation platform from Festo to simplify processes and to better manage challenges related to pandemic and the supply chain crisis. The strategic partnership between Syntegon and Festo has proven to be a recipe for success for the cooperation between packaging machine manufacturers and automation specialists.

The global delivery crisis, which is due to the lack of electronics components, was successfully mastered by Festo. The company has found alternative solutions to avoid bottlenecks due to the lack of components. Festo has used a special team to supervise and advise all Syntegon works worldwide. By using standardization tools, Festo makes an important contribution to the standardization and economy of Syntegon. The Festo automation platform enables Syntegon to connect to different host controls without changing the machine elements.

The machine control is based on electrical and pneumatic components and modules of the Festo automation platform. This platform offers open interfaces to overarching controls and is available worldwide. The standardization on the component side accelerates the time-to-market and offers open interfaces, which is important for Syntegon in all international markets.

The Manual Assembly Machine RMA is mentioned as an example, which represents the heart of the syntegon autoinjectors assembly and labeling machine. The RMA is a pilot plant for clinical studies and small batch sizes and achieves a spread of one to three devices per minute.

The servo press kit YJKP, which is part of the Festo automation platform, is used at the RMA. This pre -configured modular system enables easy integration into each system and ensures constant tension and constant pressure in the production process.

The Sepion 175 drum coatering is used for the film and sugar coating of tablets. The MPA ventilation from Festo with integrated proportional valves ensures the correct form of the spray jet and the optimal atomization of the spray medium.

A flexible end-to-end packaging line for coffee beans is realized using the product handling system and the collective packer Elematic 3001 WAH. The electrical parallel gripper EHPS from Festo adapts the griffin power to sensitive workpieces and enables flexible control.
