Young bottle and vegetable chaos: Police holds thief in Ostfildern!

in Ostfildern, in the Esslingen district, a 21-year-old was recently arrested by the police. The alleged thief is suspected of having committed a predatory theft in a shopping market, in which a 54-year-old employee was injured.

The incident occurred on Friday evening around 6 p.m. on Hedelfinger Strasse in Ruit. The suspect is said to have stolen a bottle of schnapps. When he was trying to stop him in front of the market from an employee who tried to stop him, there was a wrangling. The bottle broke and the 54-year-old was slightly injured by the argument.

After the incident, it was not yet over: the 21-year-old returned to the entrance area of the shop and began to throw with vegetables and flowers, which ultimately enabled him to escape. However, the police were able to quickly identify the suspect based on a published photo that was taken during the incident.

The preliminary arrest of the man happened shortly afterwards, whereby a criminal complaint is now imminent for predatory theft. Such incidents raise questions about security in retail stores, but in this special case it was luckily with minor injuries. The police appeal to other witnesses to report to support the status of the investigation.
