In the fateful night on Sunday, a tragic traffic accident occurred on the airport road in Filderstadt, Esslingen district, which demanded the life of a 50-year-old driver. At around 0.45 a.m., the driver of a Suzuki Swift was on the road and wanted to turn left towards the airport/fair in the airport tunnel. He apparently disregarded a red traffic light, which had fatal consequences.

The Suzuki crashed into a Seat Alhambra, whose 48-year-old driver also wanted to enter the tunnel as a left-hand turn. The impact was devastating: both drivers had to be freed from their vehicles by the emergency services. Tragically, the Suzuki driver still succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident. The Seat driver and his 16-year-old passenger were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The two vehicles were no longer ready to drive after the accident and had to be towed. The property damage is estimated at around 30,000 euros. In order to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident, an expert was consulted by the Stuttgart public prosecutor's office. The B 312 had to be completely blocked during the accident recording and the subsequent road cleaning, but there were no major traffic disruptions.
