In the future with a card and smartphone on the bus: Test run starts in Friedrichshafen!
The future of bus driving in the region is now digital! From Monday, November 25th, an exciting test operation will start to revolutionize the payment from the bus driver. Over the next six weeks, passengers on the popular bus line 7587 between Friedrichshafen and Kressbronn can no longer only pay their tickets with cash, but also with banking cards, credit cards and even with their smartphone!
Regional transport Alb-Bodensee GmbH (RAB) introduces this innovative system, which offers passengers a simple and modern payment method. "Instead of pressing coins or notes in the hand of the bus driver, the passengers can now simply pull out their card or cell phone," explains the project manager Jessica Matt enthusiastically. In order to take part in the ticket purchase, the passengers only have to ask for a card payment and keep their card or mobile device to the sensor. You will immediately receive your ticket and a booking receipt - very uncomplicated!
Important information on the test phase
But be careful! During the test phase, it is advisable to still have some change with you. "The card payment depends on a stable mobile network and we have no long -term experiences with it," warns Matt. There is also a decisive difference: When paying with a card or smartphone, the usual 30 percent price discount on single trips that are known from the Bodo-Ecard is no longer known. This works as a credit card and is a completely different system. The test operation between Friedrichshafen and Kressbronn offers a new, digital option that could make bus driving in the region easier and more modern.
