Christmas in the emergency room: When holidays become a challenge
Christmas in the emergency room: When holidays become a challenge
Friedrichshafen, Deutschland - Christmas is not a feast of joy for everyone. In the emergency room of the Friedrichshafen Clinic, numerous people spend the holidays under medical care. Barbara Neubauer, nursing director, explains that she has to expect an increased patient volume at Christmas. "The hustle and bustle before the presents often leads to accidents in the kitchen, and later there are often injuries from quarrels," says Neubauer.
The holidays not only bring injuries, but also emotional stress. People who feel lonely often go to the emergency room because they feel symptoms such as pressure on their chest. Despite the challenges, the clinic staff tries to maintain the festive mood by eating and decorating together. "We try to keep our mood up all year round, but it is something special between the years," says Neubauer. The sisters and nurses with cheerfulness cope with the stressful layers, but always remain professional and sensitive to the patients.
Christmas memories in the doll room
With a collection of doll furniture and accessories that have been compiled over 40 years, Neubauer gives up the magical Christmas season in the doll room. The exhibition shows the lovingly designed interior and the festive preparations of the dolls. The nostalgic memories of Christmas lights and festively decorated doll rooms in particular captivate young and old. The exhibition, which will be open until February 26, 2023, also offers various handicraft offers for school classes to promote the creative streak of children.
