SWR Summer Festival Stuttgart: From 2025 every two years with Speyer alternately
As part of a new strategy, the traditional SWR summer festivals in Stuttgart and Rhineland-Palatinate will take place every two years in the future. From 2024, the festival in Rhineland-Palatinate pauses, which will take place again in 2025 in Speyer and in 2026 in Stuttgart on Pentecost weekend. This decision aims to strengthen the event for the regions and to offer the organizers more scope for program design, especially in view of increasing costs in the event area.
The establishment of a two-year rhythm makes it possible to develop a more extensive and more attractive program. This reorganization is a reaction to the current challenges in public service broadcasting and the associated cost increases. The SWR would like to ensure that high -quality events continue to take place in the heart of the city, as before on the Schlossplatz in Stuttgart.
The effects of this new model could be diverse for Stuttgart and the region. The SWR summer festival has developed into an integral part of cultural life in Stuttgart over the years. It not only attracts local visitors, but also tourists from all over the region and beyond. The recurring event not only offers entertainment through shows and hands -on activities, but also serves as a platform to present local artists and cultural workers.
The following table gives an overview of the most important data and facts about the SWR summer festival and its importance for the region:
Jahr
number of visitors (estimated) Th>
| | ||
---|---|---|---|
2025 | Speyer (Rhineland-Palatinate) | 27. - June 29 | approx. 50,000 |
2026 | Stuttgart | 22. - May 25th | approx. 100,000 |
Overall, the changeover to a two-year rhythm should have positive effects on the quality of the program and at the same time ensure the financial sustainability of the event. The strengthening of regional identity and promoting local cultural life are important aspects that not only benefits the festival itself, but also the entire region.
