Heidelberg relies on green mobility: four companies!
Heidelberg sets a strong sign of environmentally friendly mobility! On November 11, 2024, the successful third year of the “Operational Mobility Management” (BMM) funding program was celebrated. This innovative program, which was launched in October 2020, has already supported 15 companies and institutions and three schools in the past two years. Now four other companies can look forward to their participation certificates, as the city of Heidelberg announced in a press release.
"Our support program 'Operational Mobility Management' is a central component to support companies and institutions as best as possible and to position them as attractive employers," said Raoul Schmidt-Lamontain, the mayor for climate protection, environment and mobility. The participating companies, including AGC Biologics GmbH, Celonic Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG, Josef Lamy GmbH and the Studierendenwerk Heidelberg Aör, benefit from individual solutions to promote sustainable mobility. These measures are not only good for the climate, but also increase the satisfaction of the employees, such as [Heidelberg.de] (https://www.heidelberg.de/hd/presse/13_2024+ successes+ year+des+foerderprogramms+_- Betriebslicht+mobilitaetsmanagement_.html?womort=rhein-neckar-kreis) reported.
Sustainable mobility solutions for companies
The BMM is a joint project that is realized in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the German Trade Union Confederation, the Heidelberg-Rhein-Neckar-Kreis and other partners. The companies receive tailor -made consultations and have the opportunity to optimize their mobility strategies. The aim is to promote the switch to environmentally friendly means of transport such as public transport, bicycles and alternative drives.
The participants of the program were able to record and analyze their mobility data this year, develop measures to use sustainable transport and anchor sustainable mobility as a fixed value in their corporate communication. These steps are crucial to achieve the city's climate goals and relieve the transport systems.
An important step for the climate goals
The city of Heidelberg pursues ambitious climate goals and in November 2019 adopted a comprehensive climate protection action plan. The BMM is an important building block to achieve these goals by supporting companies in implementing environmentally friendly mobility concepts. However, the continuation of the program is subject to the urban budget situation, which increases uncertainty about future funding.
In another important development, Turmstraße and Zehentgasse are redesigned in the northern city center of Heilbronn. On Monday, November 18, building basic investigations begin to explore the soil quality. Rammkern probes determine whether there are deposits from the war. These exploration work is necessary to ensure that no ordnance in the soil is hidden, as Heilbronn.de reports.
The planned redesign of the streets comprises park-like green areas, seating and more car-free zones to promote foot and cycling traffic. These measures aim to improve the city center climatically and to support sustainable urban development.
Heidelberg and Heilbronn show how important it is to develop innovative solutions for the mobility of the future. The initiatives in both cities are crucial for a sustainable and climate -friendly future.
