Magic piano evening: Ceresini brings Chopin and myth to Heidelberg!

A special musical event is imminent: On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, the pianist Pietro Ceresini will appear in the concert hall of the Wolfsbrunnen in Heidelberg. The talented musician, who has his roots in Parma and teaches at the Musikhochschulen Freiburg and Innsbruck, presents a varied program that will kidnap the audience into the depths of the piano music.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and promises to become an extraordinary experience. Among other things, Ceresini will play Frédéric Chopin's polonaise fantasia. This work is considered one of the last masterpieces of Chopin and masterfully combines its Polish roots with a free, poetic expression. Composed in 1846, it opened with mysterious chords and unfolds into a complex musical structure that convinces with rhythmic turns and harmonious sophistication. The emotional depth of the polonaise fantasia makes it an outstanding example of Chopin's late art.

diverse compositions

In addition to Chopin's work, Ceresini will also perform the Metopes, op. 29, by Karol Szymanowski. These piano cycles from 1915 are inspired by the adventures of the Odysseus and refer to three important figures of Greek mythology: the sirens, Calypso and Nausikaa. The three pieces offer a wealth of impressionist sound colors, rich harmonies and exotic rhythms that kidnap the audience into the mysterious world of ancient stories.

Furthermore, Ceresini brings some earlier works by composer Martin Münch to be heard. These include impressionist piano pieces from his collection op. 4. As well as bizarre tangos, which can be found in the "Tangos Meditativos". These works are not only a homage to Münch's creative style, but also show his ability to combine neo-impressionist elements with characteristic power, especially in the "Suite Antique".

The concert is part of the Neckar Music Festival and is organized in cooperation with Wolfsbrunnen Kultur. This event is funded by the City of Heidelberg, which underlines the importance of cultural support for such artistic events. The combination of Chopin, Szymanowski and Münch promises to become a concert that will address the audience both emotionally and intellectually.
