Lifeguard app in Ulm: This is how technology saves life in an emergency!
In the urgent case of a cardiovascular arrest in the Ulm region, the latest technology is now being used. In order to shorten the response time, the ambulance service alerts volunteer first aiders via an app that is installed on its smartphone devices. This enables precise location of the helpers and a targeted alarm of the nearest people. David Richter, Managing Director of the DRK Rettungsdienst Heidenheim-Ulm, emphasizes that the helpers can now quickly help regardless of whether they are at home or at work. This application is a real lifesaver, because in almost half of the missions the helpers were before the emergency services in the emergency location, such as the Ulm news reports.
With the new app Corhelper, which replaces the former program version, the registered lifesavers can be alerted quickly and efficiently. In an emergency, you not only receive a request to help, but also information about the best travel route using GPS. The algorithm of the app takes into account the availability of the helpers and their chosen transport - be it on foot, by bike or by car. This intelligent solution enables faster help for people in critical situations. According to information from Region of the Lifeguard , the four first aiders can be alerted, which are most likely to arrive first.
A total of 27,000 volunteer lifesavers have already been registered through the app nationwide, and many counties, including the partners in Heidenheim and Ostalb, have successfully use this system. In the past five years, this has led to around 1,000 missions in Biberach and a daily commitment of a first aider. The app is available in Google and Apple's app stores and enables easy registration, which could further increase the number of helpers available. The development of the app and its implementation in the region demonstrate the commitment and technological innovative strength to save lives.
