Hohenheim students praise food sciences in the CHE ranking!

The University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart rates about average by its students for their Bachelor and Master courses in food sciences and biotechnology. According to the current CHE university ranking, the rated programs, including Bachelor in food science and biotechnology, as well as master's offers such as Food Science and Engineering, Food Biotechnology, Food Systems and Food Chemistry, receive excellent grades. In a total of 14 out of 15 categories, the students award between 4 and 4.5 out of 5 possible stars, which reflects the high satisfaction of the students. The motivation of the teachers and the modern laboratories of the university are particularly recognized, which contribute to a comprehensive training offer. The only category in which there is still room for improvement is the evaluation of the learning and work rooms, which performs with 3.9 out of 5 stars.

The additional offers provided are diverse and tailor -made. This includes introductory events for new students and special math courses that make it easier to start the study. In addition, the program “Studying with a perspective” supports students in various phases of their academic career in order to ensure a smooth transition to the course. The University of Hohenheim also offers innovative approaches in teaching, such as food production in 3-D printing and the development of vegan meat and milk replacement products that are important in the current discussion about sustainable nutrition.

The CHE University Ranking, which has been published in time and at ZEIT ONLINE for 20 years, evaluates a variety of courses at German universities. In the current round, the training conditions for master students and the young scientists at the University of Hohenheim were classified as excellent. According to the results published in the student magazine Zeit Campus, the close connection between the quality of the teaching and the possibility of doing your doctorate as part of the master programs is evident. The students rate the reference to the science and the number of doctoral opportunities per professor: very good, which the University of Hohenheim makes as a career jumping board.

The study conditions rated as "outstanding" in the Bachelor courses were already recognized in spring. Despite the high ratings at the University of Hohenheim, a large part of the courses, including many in agricultural sciences, are not ranked, since the CHE carries out annual neuranking only for part of the programs every three years.
