Police internship in Bruchsal: Quantation for adults now possible!
An unconventional entry into police work took place in Bruchsal, where 15 adults had the opportunity to find out about the career opportunities among the police. It was a unique internship format that is specifically dedicated to adults who are interested in a transverse entry. These events offer you a practical introduction to the diverse tasks and requirements of a police officer.
The sports hall of the police school in Bruchsal was the scene of intensive sporting activities on Wednesday morning. After a short introduction by the trainers, the interns had to do a wide variety of exercises. One of the challenges was to throw medicine balls on the wall over two meters and to catch them again - an exercise that is fundamental for the police training.
practical experience and personal motivation
The questions that the participants dealt quickly became concrete: "Can I imagine a lateral entry with the police?" For 19-year-old Emily Mebes, the answer was clear: "Yes." Although she is currently studying general financial management, she is considering an application to the police. "The police have always been interested," she explains after the first sporting part and is motivated to master the challenges of the police with the right preparation.
The 22-year-old Leon Winter, who completed his training as a paper maker two years ago, also reports about similar ambitions. "The sporting component of the profession is particularly appealing to me," he says, and is already in the starting blocks to apply. At the moment he has even done his sports badge to occupy his skills.
In other exercises, the interns also had to complete the course with water cannons and protective equipment. Here they climbed over hurdles, ran from ward to station and had to overcome obstacles as well as simulators of opponents. These practical exercises offer a realistic insight into the requirements of everyday police life. The atmosphere was characterized by team spirit and motivation, while the participants tested their borders and cheered on each other.
innovative adult internship
The adult internship is a strategic Initiative by the Karlsruhe police to inspire more adults for a professional career with the police. This new form of recruitment is aimed not only at young people, but also at people from different professional groups - opticians, electricians and prospective educators were represented among practicing participants.
The prospective educator Elena Heuser reports that she would probably not have applied to the police without this internship. "I wanted to see how the job really is," she explains. Now she has the confirmation she was looking for and is open to a possible entry into the police.
Dennis Bollinger, attitude consultant at the Karlsruhe police headquarters, confirms that career changers can bring a significant advantage for the police. "The best applicants already have knowledge and experiences from other professional areas that they can contribute to police work," said Bollinger.
Especially fears and uncertainties regarding the requirements and tests should be taken through such internships. Many of the participants could experience that it is not as overwhelming as they originally thought. "If you make a little effort, you can do it," says Bollinger and emphasizes that the application period runs until October 31. He hopes that some of the participants will start their training with the police next year.
