Police are looking for witnesses: Exhibitionism and theft on the railway line!
Last Sunday and Wednesday there were two incidents in the Karlsruhe area that the police called on the scene. These incidents concerned both sexual harassment and theft, whereby the investigators are now looking for witnesses.
In the night of Sunday, around 0:56 a.m., a 27-year-old woman was on the way between Karlsruhe and Hockenheim in the S9. During the trip she was bothered by an unknown man who was sitting opposite in a seating group. He acted in an extremely inappropriate way and seemed to be staring at the woman continuously. The shocked traveler got out at the Mannheim main station and immediately turned to the federal police.
The police need information
The officials published a description of the alleged perpetrator. The man is described as about 1.70 meters tall and wore a gray jogging suit at the time of the crime. The police hope that possible witnesses to the situation will report to the Federal Police Inspection Karlsruhe on 0721 120160. Such incidents are not only a threat to those affected, but also lead a bad light on safety in local transport.
Another incident occurred at the following Wednesday at Karlsruhe Central Station. Here a 39-year-old man was arrested by the police after stolen a navigation device from the handlebar of a vehicle during a train ride. An attentive fellow traveler noticed the crime and immediately informed the federal police. The thief was arrested immediately after the arrival of the train, which came from Interlaken, and the stolen device was returned.
Both incidents illustrate the challenges that the police authorities face. The public is called on to be attentive and contribute to the clarification of such crimes. The police emphasized the importance of cooperation with the population in order to increase security in public space. More information about these incidents can also be found here .
