Baroque Volleys lose dramatically against Mühldorf: coach disappointed!
A dramatic duel in the second volleyball Bundesliga ended with a bitter disappointment for the Baroque Volleys MTV Ludwigsburg! On Sunday they had to give up TSV Mühldorf with 1: 3 and slipped to the 12th place in the table.
coach Michael Dornheim was visibly frustrated after the game: "I am totally disappointed - after the 0: 3 against Langen, this is the second defeat against opponents that we should have beaten." The Baroque Volleys are currently fighting with personnel changes and injuries that put a lot of strain on the team. Dornheim emphasized the urgency of collecting points as soon as possible so as not to lose the connection to the middle of the table.
tension until the end
The game started anything but optimal for the Ludwigsburgers. With newcomer Tim Köpfli in the starting line -up, they showed themselves incorrect and unconcentrated in the first two sets. Mühldorf used this mercilessly and clearly decided the first two sentences with 25:19. But then came the turn! In the third set, Ludwigsburg changed, and Mykyta Shapovalov, which was later awarded a silver MVP, brought a breath of fresh air into play. With strong attacks and powerful serves, the Baroque Volleys won the set with 25:22.
The fourth sentence was a real thrill! Both teams fought a gripping exchange of blows, and the leadership changed constantly. Ludwigsburg had the chance to win the sentence when they led at 24:23. But Mühldorf fended off four set balls, while the Baroque Volleys were able to equalize two match balls. Finally Mühldorf set the crucial point and won the set for himself with 31:29. The foreign attacker Fabian Bartsch von Mühldorf was voted Gold MVP and secured his team the three points.
