Change of coach at the Devils: Jainz has to go after defeats!

After a disappointing series of three defeats in a row, the ice hockey association VFE Ulm/Neu-Ulm pulled the ripcord and separated from coach Martin Jainz. This drastic decision was made on Tuesday after both club chief Tobias Höhnlein and Markus Pscheidl and Managing Director Patrick Meißner brought up the dissatisfied mood within the team. "The wire to the team has lost," said Meißner and Höhnlein that the expectations of the trainer were no longer met. According to those responsible, the players had expressed concerns since Sunday evening that the cooperation was no longer expedient.

Frustration with Martin Jainz

Martin Jainz, who has held the coaching office since February 2022, is frustrated with the decision. "I spoke to the team after the game on Sunday, and nobody said in this direction," said Jainz. He emphasizes that even after the decision he had contact with players who knew nothing about the separation. "I see this as a defeat for myself," he admits, and adds that he could no longer contact those responsible. "When people hide, I know that the decision is through," Jaz said his disappointment.

Interim solution for Devils

In the transition phase, goalkeeper and assistant coach Martin Niemz and Patrick Meißner take over the training and the care of the team. Meißner announced that he will try to present a new coach and hopes to be able to present a successor next week. Those responsible are excited to see whether the team will show a reaction in the upcoming games and hope for a return to better performance.
