The profession of the clown is very complex and requires a number of special skills and properties. A clown must have a pronounced sense of humor and a large repertoire of facial expressions, gestures and costumes. To become a clown, professional training is recommended. In Germany, the Tamala Center offers training and training courses for the area of southern Germany, Switzerland and Austria as well as its offshoots at Lake Maggiore (Italy). What is a clown?
A clown is an actor of humorous entertainment, mostly in the form of body expression, dance, emotional humor and acrobatic technology. A clown makes the audience laugh and captivates. To do this, he needs a pronounced sense of humor and a large repertoire of facial expressions, gestures and costumes. In addition, a clown is an improvisation talent, has a strong expressiveness and a feel for the feelings and needs of the audience.

In order to become a professional clown, it has long been no longer enough to be funny and get a red nose. Clowns today complete a comprehensive training at a renowned clown school like the Tamala Center in Constance. The founding duo Jenny Karpawitz and Udo Berenbrinker - both themselves as clowns themselves - have been offering various courses in clowning for 40 years.

How does the Tamala Center help to become a clown?

Specialization to health! Clown® through the Tamala Center

The Tamala Clown School
A school for clowns? - We show how it works

Germany's oldest clown school introduces itself
The clown and the comedian or comedy actor are one of the oldest professions in the world, because clowns have always had to learn their craft. All over the world, clowns and comedy actors are highly valued and there are professional schools who take care of the young clown youngsters. From vocational schools to university studies, the range of training opportunities ranges worldwide. The German -speaking countries of Germany, Switzerland and Austria are an exception here. In the early 1980s it was not possible to learn the "profession of clown" in Germany. So our heads Jenny Karpawitz and Udo Berenbrinker - both themselves as clowns on the move - founded the first clown school in northern Germany in 1983.

We work where others go on vacation
In 1991 moved into the Konstanz area, the Tawala Clown School in the Constance industrial area is only a 5-way minute from the Rhine. Six free coaches and numerous guest lecturers from the international clown and comedy scene teach the offspring on a 500 square meter floor. In the summer, the academy finally wakes up to international life: The annual summer academy has been attracting coaches and participants from all over the world into the rooms of the academy for 30 years now.

In the meantime, the Tamala Center consists of three areas:
