These adjustments are agreed between the countries in the Conference of Ministers of Culture. On the one hand, working hours are extended by 30 minutes in the written Abitur examination. This can ensure that there is an optimal fit between teaching and exams and that the students have fair conditions despite the pandemic.

In the subjects, in which the students can usually choose between tasks, this so -called pupil choice is fully preserved. Abitur 2023 at the generally forming schools

The examination period on April 19, 2023 begins with the examination in the subject of biology on the over 450 public and private generally forming high schools. The oral exams take place from June 26 to July 7, 2023. Each high school graduate usually completes two oral exams.

Abitur 2023 at the vocational high schools

At the over 270 public and private vocational high schools, the period of written exams begins on April 21, 2023 with the Spanish subject. In this school year, the examination period of the written Abitur exams ends with the French subject on Friday, May 5, 2023.
