The Academy Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart gets a new director. Dr. Anne Fleckstein will take over the management of the academy's international and transdisciplinary scholarship program from February 1, 2024. State Secretary Arne Braun announced this message on September 22, 2023.

Anne Fleckstein is an experienced personality in working with artists and in the management of internationally oriented, transdisciplinary support programs. She is known for her ability to create optimal working conditions for scholarship holders from all over the world. Your international network and your experience with current art discourses, especially in the global south, are particularly valuable. The close connection to the art scene in Stuttgart and all over Baden-Württemberg is very important to her.

Anne Fleckstein himself was enthusiastic about her new position. She looks forward to further developing the Academy Schloss Solitude and being able to lead as a director. Under your leadership, the academy should above all be a free and protected space for cultural workers and researchers from all over the world. The combination of art and science as well as the networking of the scholarship holders in Stuttgart and Baden-Württemberg are particularly important to her.

The 47-year-old Anne Fleckstein has been working as a program manager at the federal cultural foundation in Halle since 2015, where she was responsible for the Turn program. Previously, she worked in the press and public relations work of the Giebichenstein art college as well as in the French embassy and the Goethe Institute. In her dissertation, she dealt with the work of the South African truth commission.

The finding commission, which was used by the Academy Schloss Solitude, unanimously chose Anne Fleckstein as the new director. The Board of Trustees of the Academy started this recommendation and also unanimously decided to entrust Anne Fleckstein with the position of the academy director. As early as mid -November 2023, she will be advisable for the academy and will officially take up her five -year term as director on February 1, 2024. The previous director, Elke from the bog, had devoted herself to new professional tasks, which is why the position was vacant.

Anne Fleckstein studied cultural studies and recent German literature at the Humboldt University in Berlin and studied cultural management at the Université Lumière, Lyon. She received his doctorate at the "Medial Historiographies" in the Bauhaus University in Weimar and at the Max Planck Institute for Ethnological Research in Halle (Saale). In addition to her work in the federal cultural foundation, she also taught as a lecturer at the Giebichenstein art college Burg Giebichenstein and published on topics such as decolonization of knowledge practices and postcolonial epistemologies.

The Academy Schloss Solitude is an institution that promotes young artists from all over the world with their international and transdisciplinary scholarship program. Since 1990, over 1,600 scholarship holders from more than 120 countries have used the academy. It is considered an important and innovative support facility for artists worldwide.
