The state program Cultural School Baden-Württemberg starts
cultural education promotes creative competence and thus makes an important contribution to the development of a creative personality. That is why the Ministry of Culture supports the strengthening of cultural education in regular lessons with the new state program "Cultural School Baden-Württemberg".
Together with the karl-schlecht-foundation and the Mercator Foundation The cultural ministry" Kulturschule Baden-Württemberg "starts. The three -year program is intended to support schools both in developing a solid cooperation with cultural partners outside of school and in strengthening cultural education in regular lessons. The participating schools can benefit from the experience of an entire network of "cultural schools". These have already used the completed programs "Cultural agents for creative schools" and " Culture School 2020 Baden-Württemberg " built up a cultural profile. The aim of the new program is to expand this wealth of experience and to strengthen the network and the exchange of experiences between schools.
"We promote and invest in cultural education with the state program- and this has a tradition in Baden-Württemberg. Whether theater performances, school orchestra or museum visits: The students have long been benefiting from the broad art and cultural scene of the state and cooperation with schools. Minister of Education and Culture, Dr. “Drama Group 'in English lessons - with financing from the new state program, schools can take new ground. The program thus underlines how far we are in cultural education and what role it will also play in the classroom in the future.“
strengthening the cultural participation
The cultural school program should therefore primarily benefit the students. This enables you to strengthen your personality and cultural participation and learn with all your senses. The cultural schools of the model project "Culture School 2020 Baden-Württemberg" show how they could get their students into contact with art and culture despite the current exceptional situation and experience aesthetic spaces through digital formats of cultural education. "Creative and aesthetic experiences are more important than ever in the current situation," emphasizes Dr. Katrin Schlecht, board member of the Karl Schlecht Foundation. She says: "The state program culture school digitally and analogously brings the students into contact with art and culture and makes them really tangible. That is why the further promotion of the cultural school is particularly important to us." "
In the long term, children and adolescents can also acquire skills through cultural educational activities that are becoming increasingly important in the future. "When learning artistic learning, it is always a matter of working with others and communicating as well as critically questioning the familiar and inventing new, creative solutions," says Dr. Tobias Diemer, Head of Education at the Mercator Foundation. He explains: "The State Program for Cultural Schools also makes a significant contribution to the development of a creative and innovative learning culture."
The financing lines and the target group
The new state program includes two separate financing lines:
- on the financing line "Cultural school development" The main thing is to integrate creative methods into the teaching of all subjects. This financing line goes beyond project -like, selective individual measures in cultural education such as theater visits. The funding line initially mainly focuses on schools that have already participated in the model project "Culture School 2020 Baden-Württemberg" or in the "Cultural agents for creative schools". A total of 50 schools can take part in the program. They are financed with up to 4,000 euros per school year. By the school year 2023/2024, the country awards a "Baden-Württemberg Culture School". The first 25 schools begin on Monday, February 1st. In a second application phase, up to 25 other schools can be included in the “Cultural School Development” financing line for the new school year 2021/22.
- The financing line "Learning with the arts" supports cultural activities, (digital) projects and cooperation with extracurricular partners, artists and cultural institutions that must be accessible to all students. The schools involved are supported with up to 1,000 euros per school year, especially in building a cultural profile. They can be referred to as "schools funded as part of the Baden-Württemberg Culture School". Interested schools can apply for this funding line and this school year until March 31st.
