So far, the country had already promised a voluntary contribution until the autumn break. For the tests by the end of the year, the cabinet has now approved additional funds of up to 12.3 million euros. The state assumes 68 percent of the test kits for children between zero and three years and 30 percent of the costs for the test kits for children between three and seven years.

"The children in the daycare centers and daycare centers have no way to be vaccinated. That is why the tests are also an important protection fence for early childhood, in which we continue to voluntarily participate as a state," said Minister of Education Theresa Schopper . As the basis for the financial contribution, the state, like the schools, uses the costs for three tests per week with antigen fast tests or the costs for two PCR tests per week. "In a positive corona test in daycare centers or in the daycare center, the Separation by Corona Ordinance state that the children have to test themselves before the facility has returned, "explains State Secretary Volker Schebesta . He adds: "These costs that result from the state regulation are also taken over by the state if the children use the test offer in the facility."

The examination assistant in schools is expanded

The facilities therefore have the choice: either they choose to carry out the test at home and have the negative tests certified by their legal guardians or they carry out the tests at school. To carry out the tests, the facilities have been able to get an assistant since the Easter holidays who supports schools in preparing the tests and implementation of the tests.

"The schools have received additional tasks during the pandemic and are sometimes very busy. It is therefore important to me that the schools continue to receive support from examination assistants in the examination of students," says Minister of Education Schopper. The state therefore provides additional funds of around 8.2 million euros for the necessary protective equipment and personnel costs by the end of the year.

The state has promised to participate in the costs of the tests of children in early childhood educational institutions that have been running since April 12. So far, the cabinet has approved funds of around 37 million euros. The test kits are procured over the municipalities for the children in daycare centers and daycare centers. The organization and implementation of the on-site examination is the responsibility of the respective providers.

The Ministry of Social Affairs has made available with a cabinet decision of the 1st and hygiene material.
