New research building Multidimensional Trauma Sciences at the University of Ulm
The new research building "Multidimensional Trauma Sciences" at the University of Ulm for over 200 scientists strengthens top research in the country.
Finance Minister Dr. Danyal Bayaz On Monday, October 11, 2021, Dr. Hans Reiter together with the head of the Ministry of Science the foundation for the new research building Multidimensional trauma sciences (MTW). Finance Minister Dr. Danyal Bayaz: "A trauma can meet everyone at any time. That is why trauma research is so important. With the excellent new building, we strengthen top research in the country. The new center offers researchers from medicine and natural sciences."
Science Minister Dr. Hans Reiter: "The University of Ulm occupies an unchallenged top position in trauma research internationally, which lives from many years of experience and high competence. The planned interdisciplinary cooperation in the new research building not only strengthens the trauma sciences itself, but also the location Ulm and its biomedical research landscape."
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Weber, President of the University of Ulm: "Ulm trauma research is internationally recognized and is one of the strategic development fields of the university. The new MTW building offers the interdisciplinary working groups the best research conditions in the middle of the science city.
New research building for over 200 scientists
Due to its national importance, the new research building for over 200 scientists is funded by the federal government. With construction costs of around 65.5 million euros and total costs, including the equipment of around 73 million euros, the MTW receives the highest funding amount as part of this program, which was previously awarded in Baden-Württemberg. Half of the remaining construction costs are invested by the Medical Faculty of Ulm and the country.
After the Science Council approved the construction in May 2019, the project was planned by the state company Werkt und Bau Amt Ulm together with the commissioned architects Heinle, Wischer and Partner from Stuttgart. After the start of the preparatory work at the end of 2020 and the start of construction in February of this year, the official foundation for the research building on the Upper Eselsberg can now be laid. The completion of the complex and high -technical construction project is planned for early 2024.
The building is located right next to the Center for Clinical Research in Science Park I. The entrance takes place via a green forecourt. The courtyard of the building opens up to the directly adjacent botanical garden. A large number of technical functions, such as highly installed laboratories, rooms for imaging methods such as computer tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), laboratories for computer simulations and a bio -ank with tissue samples are divided into usable areas in five levels with around 5,400 square meters. These high-tech areas are networked with modern office and communication areas around the green courtyard.
The Visualization of the future research building Multidimensional trauma sciences can be used by the authors, the architect Heinle, wiper and partner from Stuttgart can be used free of charge for editorial purposes.
