This is done in several modules, then the young people have to demonstrate their skills in an online exam in order to obtain the certificate. The curriculum of this computer driver's license is regularly updated and is based on what is necessary for the basic operation of the computer. Almost 63,000 ICDL exams have taken place in Baden-Württemberg since 2008. In addition, people with disabilities can also acquire the certificate, because there is also a barrier-free exam for people with visual or hearing disability, with limited mental or motor performance and also for people with learning difficulties such as dyslexia or dyscalculia. More than 6,500 such ICDL HCP certificates have been awarded in the southwest since 2008. And thanks to ICDL exams under online care, students have also been able to get their computer driving license in the past few months.

The framework contract between the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and the Bonn Service Society for Information Technology (DLGI) was first concluded in February 2008. The examination centers for the ICDL - formerly ECDL - in Germany are certified by DLGI.

The ICDL is the international standard for the development of digital skills in the workplace. It is further developed and implemented by the DLGI. More than 100 countries worldwide trust the uniform training standard for EDP application knowledge, IT security and data protection.
