Immediate program for reliable teaching care

The Ministry of Culture has put together an immediate program for reliable teaching care. The country thus expands the personnel base, uses existing forces more effectively and supports them in a targeted manner. This creates additional capacities of around 500 deputies.

With an immediate program of 18 measures, the state government is promoting the topic of teaching. Minister of Culture Theresa Schopper says on Friday, March 31, 2023: "Our central goal is: secure good teaching in difficult times. The immediate program is therefore embedded in medium and long-term measures."

Like the other federal states,

Baden-Württemberg also fights with a lack of teachers. The state government has already reacted with additional teaching positions, with increases in study places for the teaching positions, with more apprenticeships for specialist teachers, but also through the use of pensioners, direct entrants and from teachers from other types of school at primary schools. However, since part of these measures only seems temporary, the state government now traces an immediate package for reliable teaching care. This should improve teaching care promptly, i.e. in the next school years.

land relies on three priorities

Minister of Culture Theresa Schopper says: "A good teaching care for our children and young people is an absolute core concern for me. We have already overturned many levers in recent years, but we are increasing the challenges. We are responding - with a dedicated package from 18 specific measures.

• Firstly, we want to enlarge the personnel base among the teachers. To do this, we strengthen our efforts to gain direct entrants and people with foreign teaching training as additional teachers.
  
Secondly,
• we will be specifically relieved where the loads are particularly high. This applies, for example, to the management period of school management or to schools with all -day offers. And we provide additional support for the teachers in their work by educational assistants and graduates of a voluntary social year.
  
Third, we will use the existing forces. The special case of part -time for 'other reasons' is limited to a minimum scope of 75 percent. This creates predictability and reliability. Part -time for family reasons or for the care of relatives and part -time in parental leave are of course still possible as before. Legal clerkships are relieved in particular by the elimination of the documentation or homework, but more involved in the practical week of the week. These steps were not easy for us because they mean an additional burden for the teachers concerned. We have weighed these steps very carefully and nevertheless take these steps because they help to secure lessons at our schools - and thus benefit our children in concrete terms. ”
