Baden-Württemberg strengthens European integration: Kretschmann's delegation trip into the Danube region
Baden-Württemberg deepens cooperation with Romania and Moldova-a step to strengthen the Danube region
Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann has taken an important trip to the Danube region with a delegation of around 30 people, which focuses on strengthening economic and energy policy cooperation with Romania and Moldova. This three-day delegation trip, which began on September 30th in Bucharest, has the goal of promoting European integration in the region and supporting support for the Republic of Moldova on its way to EU membership.
A central element of the trip was to sign a joint declaration of intent with Romania Prime Minister Ion-Marcel Ciolacu, which stipulates the expansion of relationships between Baden-Württemberg and Romania. The two countries have been working in a mixed inter-state commission since 2004 and have implemented numerous initiatives with the support of EU projects of the Danube Strategy. Kretschmann emphasized the importance of strong European partners: "The Russian war of attack against Ukraine once again shows us how decisive the cohesion within Europe is."
As part of the trip, special attention is also paid to the support of Moldaus. Both Baden-Württemberg and Romania are committed to offering Moldau additional perspectives in relation to EU membership. The interior ministries of both countries are also involved in the planned cooperation, which sign measures in the field of disaster protection.
Another important point of the delegation trip is the energy-political roundtable conversation, which focuses on the topics of energy transition and hydrogen economy. Romania is becoming more and more important in the context of energy security in Europe, especially as a key partner to reduce dependence on Russia.
Possible effects of the trip:
-
Strengthening economic relationships : The intensification of economic cooperation, especially in the energy industry, could lead to new business opportunities and investments for both Romania and Baden-Württemberg.
-
Improvement of energy safety : The collaboration in the field of renewable energies and hydrogen could contribute to securing energy sources and the diversification of energy supply in the region.
-
Political stability in the Danube region : With regard to Moldaus with regard to EU integration, political stability in Southeast Europe could be promoted. This could also lead to strengthening the common European value system in the long term.
- expansion of international cooperation : The trip could serve as an example of similar initiatives of other federal states or European regions in order to consolidate the cohesion within the EU and to increase the influence of the region on European decision -making processes.
Overall, this trip shows the commitment of Baden-Württemberg for a more stable and progressive Danube region and the will for European integration.
