Data rapid dogs are strengthening police work in Baden-Württemberg

The police in Baden-Württemberg are now relating to a special form of support for search and control measures: data carrier detection dogs. Six highly qualified sniffers were specially designed to help with the search for important evidence, especially on data carriers.

Interior Minister Thomas Strobl emphasized the importance of this new kind of detection dogs, since crucial evidence can often be found on electronic data carriers these days. The police should support the data carrier detection dogs in a variety of investigations, including business offenses and the fight against child pornography. In addition to already established detection dogs to search for drugs, explosives and other materials, the data carrier detection dogs are now used in a targeted manner.

The training of the data carrier detection dogs lasts 50 days and takes place at the police dog handler in Göppingen. During this time, the dogs are prepared for their new task and learn to identify certain smells on data carriers. The dog handlers work intensively on the conditioning of the animals and complete sophisticated exams together with their four -legged friends.

The first data carrier detection dogs are initially used in various police headquarters in Baden-Württemberg. After a one -year test phase, it is decided whether the data carrier detection dogs are also used in other regional police headquarters.

The introduction of data carrier detection dogs in police work could lead to more efficient and more efficient investigative work in the long term. With the support of these specially trained dogs, police authorities may be able to access electronic evidence faster and more effectively, which in turn could help to hold off -road faster.
