Successful search and security day strengthens public security in Baden-Württemberg
On April 17, 2024, the cross-border search and security day to combat crimes in public spaces took place for the seventh time. In Baden-Württemberg, almost 3,000 police officers have checked around 12,400 people, 6,300 vehicles and more than 11,400 documents in Baden-Württemberg together with emergency services of the federal police, the tax investigation and representatives of the city and municipal administrations as well as the immigration authorities and the judiciary.
The results of the police controls show that the population's sense of security is largely influenced by crimes in public spaces. Due to the increased control pressure and the increased police presence on this day, more than 480 crimes and almost 3,100 administrative offenses were found. In addition, 38 people were temporarily arrested and 67 arrest warrants were carried out.
The custody of forbidden objects such as knives, machetes and stimulus spray devices is particularly worrying. In addition, cash of almost 37,700 euros was secured.
The deputy prime minister and Interior Minister Thomas Strobl emphasized the importance of the search and security day for strengthening security in public space. The cross-border cooperation between the police authorities of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland has once again shown that common missions can lead to successful results.
The search and security day therefore makes a decisive contribution to increasing the feeling of security of the population and effectively combating crimes in public spaces. The positive results and the high number of crimes identified illustrate the effectiveness of this concept and underline the need for further cross -border measures to secure public space.
