Stuttgart, August 31, 2023-the interior minister of Baden-Württemberg, Thomas Strobl, has retired the long-time state crime director Klaus Ziwey in well-deserved retirement. In his official career, Ziwey held numerous top positions within the Baden-Württemberg police and is considered an outstanding personality with an versed criminalist expertise and excellent leadership qualities.

Ziwey, who is known as an extremely collegial character, always acted at eye level with his employees during his career in the police and has always stayed on the ground. His professional commitment is considered exemplary, and he has not only recognized himself as a competent supervisor, but also as a person with a prudent manner.

In 2011, Ziwey held the position of the inspection manager at the State Criminal Police Office in Baden-Württemberg and was later promoted to Vice President. In 2017 he returned to the Ministry of the Interior and took over the position of the head of unit and state crime director. Since the end of 2021, he also had the double burden as an inspector of the police in the State Police Headquarters.

Klaus Ziwey was born on June 12, 1962 and joined the police enforcement service in 1982. He initially rose to the upper police enforcement service in 1990 and reached the higher police enforcement service in 1996. He held various positions within the police, including Head of Department and deputy inspection manager at the State Police Directorate Stuttgart II and Head of Inspection 410 at the State Criminal Police Office Bw.

From 2006 Ziwey worked in the Baden-Württemberg Interior Ministry and worked there as a speaker in the factual area of crime fighting, prevention, criminology as well as European and international affairs. From 2018 until his retirement in 2023, he was finally the state crime director and responsible for the management of the criminal police tasks in the country.

The excellent reputation of Klaus Ziwey as a competent leader and his committed work will continue to be remembered in the Baden-Württemberg police. The employees as well as the entire police will miss his expertise and experience, while they will now search for a suitable successor.
