Wastewater disposal in Haßmersheim and Neckargerach promoted
With around 9.6 million euros, the state is promoting the connection of the municipalities of Haßmersheim and Neckargerach in the Neckar-Odenwald district to the Obrigheim sewage treatment plant. This gives residents efficient and sustainable wastewater disposal.
The municipalities of Haßmersheim and Neckargerach in the Neckar-Odenwald district receive state subsidies of around 9.6 million euros for the connection to the Obrigheim collective sewage treatment plant. At an on-site appointment in Obrigheim, State Secretary for the Environment André Baumann Present their funding notices to the two municipalities of Haßmersheim and Neckargerach on Thursday, October 28th.
Extensive package of measures for an efficient wastewater structure
"Today is the starting signal for an entire package of measures with which the citizens of Haßmersheim and Neckargerach receive efficient and sustainable wastewater disposal," emphasized the environmental secretary in his greeting. So far, the two municipalities have been operating their own sewage treatment plant. But after over 40 years of operation, they are outdated, have technical deficits and the necessary capacities for the increased amount of wastewater are missing. "There is no doubt that there is an urgent need for action. In a comprehensive expert opinion and in intensive consultations, the most economic and future best option was determined with regard to water management. With the result of the decommissioning of the sewage treatment plants in Haßmersheim and Neckargerach and the connection of both municipalities to the collection sewage treatment plant in Obrigheim," said Baumann. This system has sufficient reserves to clean the waste water from Haßmersheim and Neckargerach.
"In order to bundle the sewage structures on site, numerous, technically complex construction measures including a trendy crossing are required," emphasized the state secretary. To connect the municipality of Haßmersheim, for example, a new pumping station and a pressure line around 1.7 kilometers long have to be built. The state supports the municipality with a total of 3,833,600 euros. Another pumping station is to be built in the municipality of Neckargerach; In addition, there is an approximately 8.8 -kilometer printing line, which, as in the case of Haßmersheim, will cross the Neckar using a dark. The country promotes these necessary construction measures in Neckargerach with 5,776,800 euros.
investments pay for people and nature
"These are considerable investments, which are paying for people and nature in the region in the long term. This makes it possible to work more efficiently and cheaper at a single location. And higher demands on sewage cleaning will be easier to implement in the future," Baumann continued. However, the further advantages for water protection are not to be neglected. "Because compared to the small facilities previously used, the sewage treatment plant in Obrigheim has a higher cleaning performance. And thus the connection of the two municipalities also leads to a direct relief of the Neckar and an improvement in its ecological state," says the State Secretary.
