Symbolic ceremony marks the start of construction for tube mountain tunnels near Allensbach
The work for the construction of the Röhrenberg tunnel near Allensbach in the district of Constance started with a symbolic ceremony. The almost 970-meter-long tunnel is built as a noise protection measure in the course of the construction and new building of federal road 33 between Allensbach and Konstanz. At the ceremony, the parliamentary state secretary among the Federal Transport Minister, Michael Theurer, State Transport Minister Winfried Hermann, President of the District Carsten Gabbert, local federal and state members as well as numerous representatives of the neighboring communities.
The tunnel is made with two tubes in an open construction and bordered on both sides of 30 meters long portal structures. The shell is to be completed in mid -2028 and the traffic release is planned for autumn 2029. Despite the challenges, such as cramped space due to adjacent development and diversion routes, the tunnel should help relieve people along the B 33 between Allensbach and Constance.
Michael Theurer emphasized the federal government's massive investment in the Lake Constance region and named the construction and new construction of the B 33 and other projects as a vital for the region. Transport Minister Winfried Hermann emphasized that the measures serve to relieve residents, residents and road users alike. District President Carsten Gabbert was happy about the start of the construction work and praised the team for the timely completion of the preparatory work.
The construction of the Röhrenberg tunnel costs around 86 million euros and is carried out by the Working Group of Storz Verkehrswegebau and Eiffage Infra-Süd/Eiffage Infra-Nordwest. The overall completion of the new and expansion of the B 33 between Allensbach and Konstanz is planned until 2035.
The completion of the Röhrenberg tunnel and the overall project is expected to lead to an improved traffic situation in the region and significantly increase the quality of life for residents and travelers.
