Fire breaks out on ferry in Greece with 288 people on board

The Euroferry Olympia, who is driving under Italian flag, was on the way from the Greek city of Igoumenitsa to the port of Brindisi when the fire broke out near the island of Corfu in the Ionian Sea on Friday morning.
on board were 237 passengers and 51 crew members.
All passengers are safe and on lifeboats, said the Greek State Secretary for the Handels Navy, Kostas Katsafados, opposite the Greek radio station Skai.
The passengers and the crew would be brought to Corfu, the authorities said. The weather conditions in the area were mild.
No victims were reported and the police said that three tugs and three patrol boats were sent to help the passengers.
"The captain of the Euroferry Olympics asked the passengers to leave the boat," said the police.
A video uploaded on the Greek news website proto topic showed a ferry that was enveloped by flames and huge swaths of smoke.
The incident occurred around 4.30 a.m. (0130 GMT) off the north coast of Corfu between Greece and Albania, the Greek coast guard shared.
The cause of the fire is not yet known, according to the Greek coast guard, an investigation has started.
