Changed requirements for the wolf -repellent basic protection
The Ministry of the Environment has adapted the regulations for the basic protection of farm animals in the wolf prevention support area in the Black Forest. The protection of pasture animals is simplified and improved by the new requirements.
With the changed specifications for fencing pasture animals, it will be used for pet owners in its "With the new specifications, among other things, we take into account difficult topographical conditions in pasture farming more than before and take the owners," said Environment Minister . This applies in particular to the requirements for the grounding and voltage of an electric fence.
adapted regulations for basic protection
In the interest of the pet owners, the following basic protection regulations were adjusted:
- Reduction of the required minimum voltage of an electric fence from over 4,000 volts to over 2,000 volts
- Supplement to the evaluation criteria for grounding
- recognition of the presence of guard dogs as basic protection
- detection of a wolf attack also on an expert basis and without a so-called C1 Wolf certificate (clear photo or DNA analysis)
"Pet owners receive more flexibility and the requirements for basic protection are generally more pragmatic," said Untersteller. The Environment Minister also made it clear that in the future there would be no wolf -repellent basic protection without sometimes high additional costs for the animal owners. "It was and is the case that protection fences for sheep and goats in the wolf prevention support area have to be electrified and specific requirements have to be met in order to be entitled to compensation for cracks caused by a wolf attack."
Land subsidized costs for wolf -repellent materials
The state also promotes herd protection with up to 100 percent. Within the supervised area, the state bears the material costs and part of the installation costs for herd protection measures. The country also contributes to the maintenance costs for zookeepers.
cracks caused by wolves in the cattle stock are refunded outside of a supervised area via the Wolf Compensation Fund without special requirements for the wolf defense for herd protection. Within the boundaries of the Wolfsmanden funding area, refunds in the northern Black Forest (within the area already shown on May 25, 2018) are already associated with the fact that there is a fundamental protection against Wolf. In the southern Black Forest and in the recently funded expansion areas in the northern Black Forest, the unconditional reimbursement applies by the end of July next year.
