B 10: The new Egelsebrücke near Vaihingen an der Enz (Ludwigsburg district) was completed
The construction work on the new Egelsebrücke near Vaihingen an der Enz has been running since December 2019. The old reinforced concrete bridge was blown up in October 2019. The replacement building - the new clamping concrete bridge - has now been completed. This means that the traffic can now be guided over the new bridge - and no longer about the temporary bridge that has now been used.
The parliamentary state secretary at the Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, Steffen Bilger, member of the Bundestag, said: "The B 10 as a strong main road is particularly exposed to the consequences of pollution. 10 from Enzweihingen to Stuttgart make quick progress.
Minister of Transport Winfried Hermann MdL emphasized: "In particular, bridge structures take advantage of themselves through intensive use and are irreparable at some point. The old Egelsebrücke, which was blown up in 2019, dates from the first post -war years and therefore had to be renewed. I am pleased that we were able to replace it with an aesthetic new bridge and that we can open it to traffic before Christmas - a good two months earlier than planned."
District President Wolfgang Reimer emphasized: "The Egelsebrücke is an important part of the B 10, which in turn represents one of the central east-west connections in the Stuttgart district. The better that the new bridge could be completed faster. I would like to thank everyone involved for their great commitment and their commitment to the quick implementation." "
Reimer explained that the provisional bridge, which traffic has flowed since the explosion in October 2019, will be dismantled from January. This will last until around mid -2021.
Vaihingen's mayor Gerd Maisch is also pleased: "With the new Egelsebrücke opened for traffic, the bottleneck that has existed since the end of 2014 is finally a topic of a past on one of the most important traffic axes in the Vaihingen area at the EnZ." Maisch's thanks go to residents and road users road users for understanding during the construction work, but above all to the construction workers for the excellent work.
The federal government has invested around 1.2 million euros in the demolition of the old Egelseebrücke. The replacement building costs around 6.4 million euros. The total costs are 7.6 million euros.
background information:
The original Egelsebrücke was a reinforced concrete bridge from the first post -war years 1947 to 1949. In a routine main inspection of the bridge construction in 2014, some serious damage to the structure and arithmetically proven sustainability deficit was found. The Egelsebrücke was rated 3.4.
In 2016, additional immediate measures had to be taken to relieve the Egelsebrücke in order to ensure safe further operation until the replacement new building was built. For this purpose, a temporary bypass with a single-spanning steel specialist bridge and corresponding road trees including a passage structure for the undermining Walter-de-Pay-Straße was created north of the existing bridge. The Egelsebrücke could be used in a single lane towards Stuttgart, while the traffic towards Pforzheim ran through the provisional bypass.
The Stuttgart Regional Council started the preparatory work for demolishing the existing Egelsee Bridge in early September 2019. In October 2019, the existing bridge construction was demolished by explosive. After the entire demolition material had been removed, the so -called foundation work for the new bridge structure began immediately and were completed in spring 2020.
The main construction project includes two construction phases:
construction phase 1: Demolition of the existing Egelsebrücke over the Enz
In the first construction phase, the existing Egelsebrücke was torn down to make room for the new replacement. The demolition was carried out in coordination with the lower nature conservation authority by demolition on October 5, 2019. For this purpose, the B 10 had to be completely closed for hours for reasons of traffic safety. Since demolition, traffic on the B 10 has been single -lane and with traffic lights above the existing provisional bridge.
Construction phase 2: Replacement construction of the Egelsee Enzbrücke main construction project
In the second construction phase, the new three -tier clamping concrete bridge with a length of around 92 meters and a width of 12 meters was built. The exchange of the Egelsebrücke began after the demolition work was completed in December 2019. Thanks to a smooth construction process, the originally planned construction period of around 1.5 years could be shortened without any noteworthy weather -related delays, so that the completion date and thus the opening of traffic is possible before Christmas 2020. The provisional bridge will be dismantled from the beginning of 2021.
