The state supports the city of Aalen with funds from the State Transport Financing Act (LGVFG) with a total of 2.19 million euros in the construction of a pedestrian and cycle path underpass under the highly frequented L 1080 (Alte Heidenheimer Straße). The main construction work should begin in spring 2021 and be completed by 2022.
"The construction of the new underpass will further improve the traffic conditions for pedestrians and cyclists in Aalen. We are making an important contribution to sustainable and climate -friendly mobility in the Ostalb," said regional president Wolfgang Reimer.
The new pedestrian and cycle path underpass as an expansion of Kettelerstraße is to develop the core city with the eastern districts and ensure a direct and safe connection for pedestrians and cyclists from the area east of Alten Heidenheimer Straße and the existing underpass under the railway line.
