L 1165: Renovation of the Remsbrücke in Essingen (Ostalbkreis)
The complete closure is expected to be extended until Sunday, November 15th

The Stuttgart Regional Council has renovated the Remsbrücke as part of the L 1165 in Essingen since August 2020. The seal and the road surface are extensively renewed. In addition, concrete foses and cavities are repaired on the bridge.

Despite the extensive preliminary examinations, the condition of the bridge made additional work necessary. Among other things, an area of the construction of the bridge built in 1957 must be completely renewed. In addition, an additional protective concrete layer must be applied to the structure and the edge area of the structure must be reinforced accordingly. The sealing of the bridge deck, the filling of the bridge pillars, the edges and paving of the asphalt on the road and on the sidewalk is currently being worked on. Due to the additional unfavorable weather conditions, the completion is expected to be postponed Sunday, November 15, 2020 .

The bridge is still completely closed for the work, since complete renovation in traffic is not possible due to the narrow road width. During the renovation work, the traffic from Aalen via the B 29 to Mögglingen - L 1161 to Heubach - L 1162 is diverted to Bartholomä. In the opposite direction, the detour takes place in the same way. In addition, an inner -city diversion is signposted. The facilities and businesses in the area of the building can still be reached from the city center.

The costs of the measure are borne by the state as a building contractor and, based on the additional work, amount to around 260,000 euros.

The Stuttgart Regional Council asks all road users to understand the impairments during the construction period.
