State government passes climate protection investment program
This week, the Baden-Württemberg state government decided on the climate protection investment program. As part of this program, the Ministry of Environment, Climate Protection and Energy is available for a total of 7.7 million euros in order to support companies with ambitious climate protection goals and to promote climate protection measures in the cement industry.
"More and more companies in the country recognize climate protection as an important factor for their economic success. We need such pioneers for the transition to a more climate -friendly economy and society," said Environment Minister Untersteller today (January 14) in Stuttgart. The investment program that has now been adopted is particularly aimed at companies that want to implement the climate protection of companies with ambitious climate protection goals. "In addition, we address an important source for CO2 emissions with the 'Climate Protection in the cement industry' project. Around 35 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in the industrial sector come from cement production," added the minister. It is hoped that new processes and technologies can reduce process-related CO2 emissions in the production of cement by up to 75 percent. "Innovations that we are now developing and testing in Baden-Württemberg can then be exported worldwide. We are making an important contribution to climate protection and strengthening our economy." "
climate protection strategy "Companies do climate protection"
"Climate protection has priority for more and more companies in the country. Particularly ambitious companies have joined the Baden-Württemberg Klimabund and are publicly committed to their climate protection goals," emphasized the minister. It is gratifying that the partnership between the country and the economy continues to grow for effective and sustainable climate protection. The 20th company has already been won for the Climate Alliance. "We have reached a first milestone," said Franz Untersteller.
The climate protection strategy "Companies do climate protection" should flank these efforts and support as many Baden-Württemberg companies as possible in the systematic and structured implementation of climate protection. The companies are offered new support, communication and network concepts that are tailored to their climate protection engagement. The state will provide a total of 6.7 million euros for this program over the next five years. "In this way we create sustainable and climate-neutral economic growth and secure productivity and competitiveness in Baden-Württemberg," said the Environment Minister.
climate protection in the cement industry
"Baden-Württemberg is an important location for cement production throughout Germany. The country therefore has a special responsibility for the development and support of climate-friendly technologies in this sector," emphasized the minister. The Environment Ministry therefore finances a model project with around one million euros to test a procedure with which the raw material lime used in cement production is to be replaced by largely CO2-free, cement-containing residues from building material recycling. As part of the three -year project, investments in a pilot plant and research expenditure to increase technological maturity are financed.
