with the versatile pulse program Discount “ The Ministry of Science, Research and Art Baden-Württemberg also supports the reopening of the non-state museums with 500,000 euros. New educational and communication formats for children and adolescents as well as offers for recruiting new target groups are funded. "Education and mediation are the core tasks of museum work that we would like to support in view of the current opening perspectives," said Cultural State Secretary petra Olschowski . "New mediation offers are an effective instrument for the visibility of the museums and at the same time an opportunity to regain visitors after the corona -related closures."

Many non-state museums, whether private or municipal, have suffered high financial losses since the pandemic broke out. They lack the financial means to build attractive and high -quality new offers. The donation should support non-governmental museums that can only offer new programs to a limited extent due to their financial emergency during corona pandemic, in the planning and implementation of new, attractive and high-quality placement and educational offers in 2021. The program is from the State Office for Museum Care In cooperation with the Competence Center for cultural education and mediation .

Focus on children and young people

museums are an integral part of collective experience and learning for many school classes. Since it has not been possible to visit the museums in recent months, the focus of the program is on children and adolescents. In addition, the new accompanying programs of the museums are attractive for many local tourists or day trippers who spend their summer vacation in southern Germany.

Another side effect of the program line is the paid commitment of freelance cultural workers, which, due to the corona pandemic in the years 2020 and 2021, hardly received any orders from museums as part of the development of mediation and educational concepts. This group of freelancers is in a financial emergency.

With this project-related program line, the Ministry of Science, Research and Art would like to make a one-off contribution to the resumption of mediation and educational work in the non-state museums and thus underline the appreciation of their work in the regions. "Private and city museums make an important contribution to cultural education as a whole. It is essential that their performance is preserved," emphasized Petra Olschowski.

The funding is carried out by the State Office for Museum Care Baden-Württemberg in cooperation with the Cultural Education and Mediation Competence Center. The funding amount is between 3,000 and 9,000 euros. The application deadline is 05.09.2021.
