She explained: "The starting signal for the cybercrime center in Baden-Württemberg has fallen: concentrated law enforcement skills for the whole country in one place and the first procedures are already being processed. So we can offer cyber criminals even better and more powerfully and continue to stop crime on the net."
The center, which is located at the General Prosecutor's Office in Karlsruhe, will be equipped with 50.5 jobs. As part of an integrated investigative approach, it is intended to enrich the public prosecutor's expertise through the technical expertise from IT forensicists. The IT speakers of the center will play an advisory and investigative role in specific investigation.
The tasks of the cybercrime center include the public prosecutor's procedural processing of outlooked investigations from the field of cybercrime, the participation in the public prosecutor's training and further education, the creation of an annual position on cyber crime and the central public prosecutor's office for topics from the field of combating cyber crime.
In the past few months, the Attorney General Karlsruhe and the Ministry of Justice have been dealing with creating the legal, organizational and personnel requirements for commissioning the center. Although the positioning procedures have not yet been completed, the cybercrime center has now officially started its work.
