Refurbishment and expansion of the cafeteria of the technical faculty of the University of Freiburg

The canteen of the technical faculty of the University of Freiburg is rebuilt and expanded. The building becomes more climate -friendly and energy -efficient. The country is investing a total of around 6.1 million euros in the renovation.

The cafeteria on the campus of the University of Freiburg is renovated, restructured and expanded during operation. The Ministry of Finance has now granted the building permit.

Finance Minister Dr. Danyal Bayaz said: "We invest in climate protection and make the building more climate -friendly and energy -efficient."

The facade receives a modern multi -disc glazing and the roof is energetically upgraded. In the future, the production kitchen and the dining room will be supplied with highly efficient heat recovery via a ventilation system.

Science Minister Theresia bauer said: "The direct exchange between students, also outside of lectures and courses, is a very central component of university life. With the expansion of the cafeteria and the new cafeteria, the students have additional work, residence and communication areas."

The cafeteria on the airfield is located in the former casino and team building of the French armed forces. The two -storey building from the 1950s was temporarily converted into a canteen on the first floor in 1995. Now the cafeteria is moved to the ground floor and receives modern kitchen technology. In the future there will be 270 seats in a dining area of around 290 square meters. An extended guest area in the outdoor area is possible. The areas on the upper floor are still used as a cafeteria and student jobs. The cafeteria can be expanded by 80 to 350 places and opened regardless of the cafeteria.

The country is investing around 6.1 million euros in the renovation and expansion of the cafeteria at the Freiburg airfield. Around 1.47 million euros are dated Studentenwerk Freiburg . The construction project is carried out by the Freiburg for wealth and construction Baden-Württemberg , which also takes over the architectural services in the project. The work should be completed by the beginning of 2023.
