There is also the possibility to offer proseminars and specialist projects, depending on the selection of students.

Meuthen is 63 years old. He was elected to the European Parliament for the AfD in 2017, but left the party at the end of January 2022, since he found the course of the party leadership to be too radical. Until his departure in the summer of 2023, he worked without them in the European Parliament. His academic career at the university had been interrupted since 2016 due to a leave of absence because this year he was elected to the AfD in the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg. The Rector of the University, Joachim Beck, emphasized that there was a legal obligation to reject Meuthen after his parliamentary activity.

Meuthen's double function and its perception

since 1997 Jörg Meuthen has been working at the University of Public Administration in Kehl, such as Stuttgarter Zeitung reported. He is not only a professor, but also a student of studies and teaches prospective mayors. Meuthen has been involved in the AfD since 2013 and has now positioned itself as a federal spokesman and top candidate for the upcoming state elections in Baden-Württemberg. In view of its political activities, the university is faced with critical questions.

A former student expressed his shame about Meuthen's commitment in the AfD in a letter, while Meuthen himself speaks of predominantly “careful recognition” in his professional environment. Despite its double function, the combination of professor and AfD politician is formally unproblematic. Rector Paul Witt advised Meuthen to design his party work in such a way that this is not at the expense of his teaching activity. No complaints about failing hours or indoctrination are known. Meuthen emphasizes that he is strictly separating the profession and party.
