Traffic chaos in Spaichingen: bypass should bring relief!
In the tranquil places Spaichingen and Balgheim there is a traffic chaos that is second to none! Over 70,000 vehicles roll through the streets every day, as a comprehensive measurement from 2019 shows. These alarming numbers were made by the Schwäbische Zeitung published. In particular the internal traffic with over 25,000 vehicles and the source target traffic, which controls the neighboring communities, contributes to overload. The through traffic from Rottweil to Tuttlingen is only a small part.
The forecasts are dark: by 2035, light traffic is expected by 6% and heavy traffic by 18%. This means that the streets will soon be overloaded if it is not traded quickly. In order to counter this challenge, the Freiburg regional council plans a bypass that is intended to distract through traffic from the B14. But the implementation of this measure is long -tangible and complicated.
The planning phase runs
The planning for the bypass that has been running since summer 2019 is far from complete. Matthias Henrich, press spokesman for the regional council, explains that the interdisciplinary variant comparison will still take a lot of time. The noise and air loads are also analyzed. The decision about the preferred variant is only made after this comprehensive examination.
There are three possible variants for the bypass: the western bypass, the eastern bypass and the route close to the board. Each of these options has its own challenges and advantages. However, the final decision is still pending and the residents have to prepare for a long waiting time.
financial hurdles and cost estimates
Another problem is the costs. Originally, the construction costs were estimated at around 26 million euros, based on data from 2014. But reality is different: construction prices have risen sharply in recent years. Current estimates indicate that the costs for the eastern bypass could be between 40 and 60 million euros. If the variant is chosen with the tunnel, which is known as the “railway line”, the costs could even increase to 90 to 100 million euros.
The residents are concerned. Many feel abandoned by politics while they are stuck in traffic every day and suffer from noise and exhaust emissions. The situation is referred to as the "homemade problem", since the high traffic is partially caused by the insufficient infrastructure and the unclear traffic planning. These worries will also be loudly on social media, where users report on their daily challenges and emphasize the need for a quick solution to improve the quality of life in the region, such as Urbia Notes.
The debate about the traffic problem in Spaichingen and Balgheim shows how important it is to take the needs of the residents seriously and to find solutions that relieve both traffic and improve the quality of life of the people on site. Time is pushing and the citizens hope for soon progress in the planning and implementation of the bypass projects.
