Glass fiber expansion started: Inzigkofen opens the gates to the digital future!
In the district of Sigmaringen, a significant step into the digital future was taken: In the municipality of Inzigkofen, the solemn groundbreaking for the large fiber optic project took place. Mayor Bernd Gombold was optimistic about the extensive promotion of the federal and state governments, which contributes to the financing of the project with almost 89 percent. Together with the first state officer Claudia Wiese and the CDU member of the state parliament Klaus Burger, numerous guests were present who emphasized the importance of this infrastructure expansion. "We open the gate into the future," said Gombold. The construction, which is to be realized by 2027, comprises over 1100 house connections and a total of 300 kilometers of fiber optic cables, which will better network the rural areas, such as how [suedkurier.de] (https://www.suedkurier.de/region/linzgau/inzigkofofen/mit-glasfaser-in-die-zukun-dich-dreitbandprojektes-in-geme-inzigkofen ;art37254768) reported.
expansion over several years
The work begins in the Engelswies district, where civil engineering work has already been created by the construction company Leonhard Weiss. The existing infrastructure is also used to make the expansion efficient. The area is not only important for faster internet, but also for the increasing need for digital applications ranging from teleworking to telemedicine, explained Holger Jerg, Managing Director of BLS Breitakungsgesellschaft. In the course of the expansion, Netze BW will take the opportunity to reduce old overhead lines and to lay the power supply underground, which also means an upgrading of the region. This project is part of a long-term plan that has been pursued in the districts of Sigmaringen and beyond since 2010, as bls-breitband.de.
The investment amount for fiber optic expansion amounts to around 10.8 million euros net. Despite the high funding, the municipality remains a share of around 1.5 million euros, which must be divided evenly over the next few years. The first steps are therefore done and the anticipation for fast and powerful Internet in Inzigkofen is growing, while the residents hope for progress in broadband expansion.
