New culinary era in quantities: Alte Post with Italian flair!

The traditional restaurant "Alte Post" in Hauptstraße 107 in Mengen has a new tenant. Istepan Özcelik, a passionate cook, takes over the business of the Italian restaurant and would like to present his culinary skills there. His passion for gastronomy developed in his childhood when he gained initial experience in his father's restaurant. After this time he founded his own snack before he dares to head the "Alte Post" restaurant.

Özcelik, which worked outside of the catering for a few years, decided to take over the restaurant this year to add a new chapter to his cooking experience. Before the reopening took place, he was already working under Gaetano d’Angelo to familiarize himself with their recipes and the food supply. It was important to him to gain knowledge of the preparation of the classic dishes while he wanted to create new dishes at the same time.

The restaurant took place earlier than originally planned: Instead of opening at the end of the year, Özcelik and his team were given the opportunity to be there for the guests in September. Luca Cassia, an experienced cook from Sicily with over 20 years of experience in gastronomy, will spoil the guests with his culinary creations.

The "Alte Post" restaurant will continue to offer Italian dishes, and the opening times are from 11.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m., with the day of rest on Mondays. Guests can look forward to various weekly specials, including Falafel bowls and pumpkin soup with shrimp, as well as a lunch table from Tuesday to Friday with changing dishes. Outside, guests can relax on nice days.

Engagement for the city

Also, when it comes to a welcome visit by Mengen's business development agency Kerstin Keppler, it was announced that Özcelik would also like to take part in the "Nice Toilette" urban project. This is intended to provide further public, free toilets in the city center. There are currently twelve such facilities in quantities.
