1. Requirements & promotions: DGB calls for the Maikrädtung in Bonn to 2024

The German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) and its member unions are also calling for demos, rallies and colorful promotions throughout the Federal Republic this year on the day of work in 2024. Under the motto "More wages, more leisure, more security", the unions before the European elections want to emphasize their core demands and react to increasing uncertainty in society.

When calling the DGB for May 2024, it is emphasized that the economy, society and the world of work are on the way to climate neutrality and digitization. It is pointed out that social change can only be successful if the employees and their unions are actively involved in the transformation.

The Bonn DGB unions are planning to formulate clear expectations of politics on May 1st. It is emphasized that the state must become able to act and that investments will lead to increased prosperity in the future. The debt brake is criticized as an investment brake and reforms are required to strengthen the welfare state.

The situation in the health professions is particularly concerned with the rally in Bonn. It is pointed out that many hospitals are threatened by bankruptcy and that the federal and state governments are required to stop uncontrolled clinic death. The demand for socially just health care is made clear.

The maic dining in Bonn starts at 11 a.m. with a demonstration from the Bonn DGB house to the market square, where the rally takes place at 12 p.m. In addition to cultural contributions, there will be greetings, speeches and a supporting program. The event is moderated by various people, including union secretary Nicolas Zipp from ver.di. Short statements on freedom of the press and the European elections are also planned.
