with the Tallbike from Munich to Beijing! 13,000 kilometers in favor of the German Cancer Aid
Bonn (ots). On May 1, 2025, friends Tommaso Weller (23) and Jakob Wall (24) started their impressive "Tallbike Against Cancer Tour" to Beijing to collect donations for German Cancer Aid. Your ambitious goal is to achieve 13,000 euros, which corresponds to one euro for every kilometer. Tommaso drives on a specially designed tall bike while Jakob is traveling with a mountain bike.
The two athletes combine their passion for bike packing - a combination of cycling, adventure and minimalism - with the concerns of supporting cancer patients. The decision to turn to German Cancer Aid goes back to personal experiences. Tommasos uncle died as a child of leukemia, a tragedy that strengthened the drive for this project. The organization has been committed to improving the chances of cure of cancer patients for over five decades and promotes numerous projects in the areas of prevention, diagnostics and therapy.
When the two adventurous people opened at the Munich Odeonsplatz, their initiative not only delighted the public, but also the German Cancer Aid. Dr. Franz Kohlhuber, CEO of the organization, expressed his recognition for the courage and determination of the two young bikers. This tour is not only a challenge for the two, but also a sign of solidarity and commitment in the fight against cancer.
The route leads Tommaso and Jakob through several European countries and across continents to Beijing, where they want to arrive at the end of August 2025. Stations are planned in Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, Russia, Kazakhstan and Mongolia. This trip not only represents a physical adventure, but also serves to generate and collect attention to cancer aid.
The German Cancer Aid, founded by Dr. Mildred Scheel in 1974 is the largest private sponsor for cancer research in Germany. She finances her projects exclusively through donations and has set itself the goal of promoting the understanding and treatment of cancer. Participation in the "Tallbike Against Cancer Tour" is another way to draw attention to the challenges and needs of cancer patients and to gain the support of the public.
