The Velcro Passage and the adjacent main train station in Stuttgart do not give a particularly inviting impression of what is due to crime, dirty corners and uninvited guests. Many people feel uncomfortable there, especially in the evening and at night. The number of crimes in the Velcro Passage and at the main train station is increasing, with almost doubling the registered cases by the federal police between 2019 and 2023. Especially thefts, bodily harm and violations of the residence law are among the most common offenses. Both the city and the police plan measures such as reinforced stripes, improved cleaning and further steps to counteract the increase in crimes and to increase security in the area.
