Increase in crimes against official and mandate providers in Baden-Württemberg
The number of crimes shown against official and mandate providers in Baden-Württemberg rose significantly last year. In 2023, a total of 540 crimes were committed, which corresponds to an increase of 40 percent compared to the previous year. The "Stuttgarter Zeitung" and the "Stuttgarter Nachrichten" have reported on this worrying development.
According to the police crime statistics, most of the crimes committed against officials. The attacks have increased in particular on the Internet, whereby 373 crimes were reported online - almost twice as many as in the previous year. The exception is violent attacks, of which there were only occasional cases. Politicians were attacked in two cases, but this remained the exception.
Interestingly, the Greens in particular were in the focus of the crimes against officials, which were significantly more attacks with 155 crimes reported compared to the previous year. The SPD and FDP followed with 72 or 68 crimes. The CDU and Linke were least attacked. AfD politicians were a total of 54 times victims of crimes, with most of the acts of violence.Interior Minister Thomas Strobl has clearly condemned the increase in crimes against officials and emphasizes that every attack on political parties or their members is a clear crossing of border that should not be tolerated. A worrying case was the shootout on a farmer and FDP communal politician in Hattenhofen, in which the public prosecutor recently hired the investigation without identifying the perpetrator or a motif. Nevertheless, new knowledge is still being determined, since attempted murder does not become time -barred.
