astronaut Matthias Maurer in Cologne: "Hope for flight to the moon"

Matthias Maurer, a German astronaut and materialist, gained numerous experience during his stay at the international space station. He spent almost six months in space and also carried out external deployment operations. In a current interview, he shared his impressions and hopes regarding future missions, especially the long -awaited lunar flight.

During his stay on the ISS, bricklayers experienced how life and work are designed in space. He reported on the limited privacy that is given despite the size of the ISS. Each astronaut has its own cabin, comparable to a small room and hygiene areas. Therefore, there are rudimentary private tones that offer a certain personal retreat.

With a view to the future, Maurer dared to make a bold forecast: he hoped to be able to fly to the moon in the near future. According to his statements, there are currently six active European astronauts that share the dream of a moon flight. He emphasized that it was important to stay medically fit in order to be operational as astronaut. This is confident that such a mission could be possible even at a older age.

The discussion about moon flights is particularly relevant because both China and the USA pursue ambitious plans. Maurer mentioned that the Chinese are targeting a moon flight for 2029, which at the same time represents an incentive for western states. In order to be successful, however, technical developments are necessary, especially those of space vehicles that are essential for such missions.

Overall, Maurer's commitment and his ideas of future space missions reflect the pursuit of progress and discovery. The space travel remains a future -oriented field, not only scientifically, but also economically, as the ongoing developments in Germany and Europe show.
