Auto collides with a light rail: High property damage in Stuttgart-Wangen

in Stuttgart-Wangen, a car collided with a light rail on Tuesday morning. According to the police, nobody was injured, but the passengers had to leave the light rail on emergency exits. In the collision, considerable damage to property occurred, at around 15,000 euros on the van and around 100,000 euros on the tram, whereby the front coupling of the railway was badly damaged.

According to reports, a 23-year-old driver of a Renault transporter was traveling on Inselstrasse in the direction of Hedelfingen when he wanted to turn the tracks at the intersection to Wasenstraße at 9:20 a.m. This led to a collision with a train of the U4 line, which was traveling from Stuttgart-Ost to Untertürkheim. The front coupling of the railway penetrated deep into the side of the van, so that the fire brigade had to use heavy equipment to separate the two vehicles around 10.45 a.m.

During the accident, there were traffic disruptions in the area, and the light rail route remains closed. Further information on the incident will be announced at a later date.
